Photographic Print. River Caves of The World dark fairground ride cats and skulls at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, England.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach was founded in 1896 by Alderman William George Bean and local businessman John Outhwaite and in 1903 they purchased 30 acres of land which was used to expand the amusement park. One of the earliest rides was a dark water ride called River Caves of The World. I am not sure why a black cat leading a row of kittens are in an African village scene of chiefs, a straw hut and skulls but they look amusing striding across the plank and add to the quaint look of the ride's façade and fairgrounds are a fantasy.
Spectators get a good view down on the boats as they emerge from the cave and head down a small drop into the water below. The water splashes are high, dramatic and fun, creating rainbows when the sun is shining
Colours are as accurate as possible but may differ slightly due to screen calibrations.
