Photographic Print. Surreal Bling Eye on red ball and clouds at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, England.
This reminds me of a surrealist painting or a stage set from a fantasy dream sequence in a 1940's musical. The red painted eye is a strange striking contrast to the wispy clouds and metal structure of the roller coaster. Fairgrounds were once rich in fairground art, hand painted, often in a
naive way, resulting in an original creation of quirky fairground
fantasy. Many fair rides are being closed down or replaced by ones with
screwed on plastic sheets of computerised graphics. However there are
some exceptions in the new rides, such as Bling with it's hand airbrushed surreal eye at Blackpool
Pleasure Beach, though it was sold to Skyline Amusement Park in Germany in 2011 and named Sky Jet.
