Photographic Print. Pink Water Lily and Koi fish in a milky Lily pond at Holetown restaurant, Barbados, Caribbean.
The genus name of the flower is from the Greek νυμφαια, nymphaia and the Latin nymphaea, which mean Water Lily and were inspired by the nymphs of Greek and Latin mythology; a feminine
spirit that inhabited water bodies like ponds, rivers and springs. Although the Water Lily is often called a Lotus flower it is not related to the genus Lotus, the Chinese and Indian lotuses of the genus Nelumbo.
