Amy, Queen of The Exotic. I was fascinated by Amy Winehouse while she was alive and wanted to paint
her looking happy, peaceful and serene in a lush exotic landscape with flowers, her tattoos and red roses in her hair.
Gladioli grow around her like she is the centre of them, like an altar, perhaps some lights of pretty, colourful, fairy lit restaurants in the distance. I am fascinated by altars, including small roadside and hill top ones and as she is a modern day icon, I wanted to paint her in this way as part of a series of altar paintings.
